Grill/Line Cook Job Description
A Pure Tacos Grill and Line Cook is responsible for producing great food to sell to our customers, including the satisfaction of the following tasks:
- » Food preparation. Prepare raw food, including meat portioning, application of spices and marinades, salsa and sauce preparation and vegetable washing, dicing, and chopping.
- » Cooking of meats and sauces. Grill, braise, and griddle fry meats of various types, and bulk cook sauces daily.
- » Deep fry tortilla chips. Prepare and fry Pure Tacos freshly made tortilla chips.
- » Measure and cook according to recipes. A successful food service business requires extreme precision and efficiency in food handling, and the Grill and Line Cook is the person who sets the tone of the kitchen regarding the handling of food.
- » Carve meat. The ability to carve meat is a necessary skill for the Grill and Line Cook. He or she will take all cooked meats and carve them into portions that can be served.
- » Cleanliness. Clean and safe food preparation is absolutely essential. If you are messy, this is probably not the job for you.
- » Passion for food. At Pure Tacos, we strive to serve great tasting chef quality food quickly, and this cannot be done without a love of food. If you don't love making food and getting better at making food, no need to apply!
Qualifications: The ability to read and speak English; Spanish speaking is plus but not required; culinary or food trade school experience (student or graduate) is a huge plus; prior experience as cook preferred. Must be able to lift heavy objects periodically and work in a fast paced, hot and sometimes stressful kitchen.
